Hi there! I have been involved with driving for sometime now and love it. I drive a pair of Clydesdales in a historic town for tours and also drive Friesians and Gypsy cobs (4 of them I have broken myself). While I have this great experience I reckon I don't know really much about driving and hope you will "humour" me when I ask silly questions.
Hope this come out... Me and Marten Fan Skarren

Hi Australia! I love that Friasian. We had 2 in a 3 up line astern last year at out local feria/Fiesta!
don't know why you folks don't just leave your names! More friendly that way, and no one needs your Visa card Pin numbers!
Please post some photos of your Gypsy Horses. I'm a mule and GH addict. I also belong to a wonderful GH dedicated chat site called harlequinefarmsgypsyhorses.com There is no driving chat at all. Just breeders and owners with loads of health and husbandry advise! So no conflict with this site Admin! Your driving work sounds interesting to. I heard that Tom Price, NSW has a lot of GH herds there! Have you heard about that? Regards Albert! _________________ http://photobucket/AlbertsLife

Haven't actually heard about any Gypsies at Tom Price but as I'm in Tasmania (as far south as you can go in Australia) I wouldn't know.
Here are a few other shots; first my daughter sitting on a 3 year old gypsy filly.
Then same filly (Pfion) in harness for the first time-she is so easy to do anything with and such a sweety!
Then a Clydsdale mare (Jasmin) I drive for the tourists from a Bed and Breakfast place called Hatchers Manor (google it and you'll see more and the other driver Bronwyn).

Ah thats really neat! Your daughter is so like my Grand daughter Stacy! can't beat that smile!
Your countryside is smiler to Granada. With rolling hills, and some rough canyons. Parched in summer, but cold in winter.
Love your GH and that neat mane! Some folks on our forum have their GH mane and tail almost down to the ground. Mind you they are staggering beautiful animals. My Casper is not at all a show stopper, but I never was a animal snob!
Last year a couple of members of the GH forum found that someone had cut the precious manes and tails off their GH's. Apparently they are very valuable!
Casper is a neat horse, and I learn more about him every day!
Your carriage driving interests me! My wife, 2 daughters and myself rebuilt an old house in Granada on the lake 'El Pantano Bermejales', near 'Alhama De Granada'. When this little farm sells (in Malaga),we aim to move to the Granada house and do carriage tours around the lake. We always planned to do it with mules, but now I am sold on using the GH, or a pair of them!
Thanks again for your response. Hope to hear more from you asap, and I'll pay more attention to my emails! Albert. Malaga. _________________ http://photobucket/AlbertsLife

Oh yes that smile!!! She still had it the next day! Just had a look at your album and even though I've worked with donkeys (Not very fond of them though-they're too smart for me with their condescending faces... ) I am impressed with the quality the mules have!!!! Are they similar to horses or more like donkeys?
Your Casper is lovely and has that sweet look that says "i'm ready for whatever you want to do"!! I found the gypsys so willing but I do prefer the Pure Spanish horses myself.
Tasmania is in the middle of a terrible drought at the moment but when it's not it is usually green all year-Dad reckons it reminds him of Wales.
Tourists will love the gypsys-a good excuse to get another one but if you want to run teams a few times a week it would be good to have the mules to take over in times of a horse needing time off.
At Hatchers we only have 3 Clydesdale at the moment with one (Blossom) retiring so haven't got a spare.
I've always wished to visit Spain but money and time of course never agree but one day! |

Nice she is a happy kid! Tasmania, like new Zealand are places I would love to visit to!
You know a few years ago I got mad at a bloke who was being hard on his Donkey a slag it it off. I told him that, "Donkeys were usually smarter than the dumb people that owned them!". You really have to work with them at their rate. It takes at least 3 years to train a donkey well. They just think so much and their avoidance techniques wear people down! Once you start to think like them it's easier!
Mules are as varied as people. yes you can categorized them, but just when you think you got them pegged they embarrass you! I work on the 51/49 principle. I negotiate for 51%, and always ask permission! Steve Edwards says that when he is wrangling he can be 25 miles from a herd while pulling in stragglers and he just lets the mule take them home!
Take a look at www.westernmulemagazine.com. My web site is www.mulesspain.com. The text is being modified, but the pics may make you and your daughter smile?
Thanks for your advice. I think I'm gonna go with 2 GH's. I'll drive one up and usethem alternate days. It's a layed back place and think I'll not be pressed by to many punters!
Stay in touch. Albert.
