Harness Repaires?

Hi, If you read my intro, you'll know I crashed my cart. Well my mule got out of it real well, but my leg, and the harness did not!
I use breast Breaching (not a coller!)
The support strap that takes the weight of the shafts (Your diagram shows a different type of harness) and passes through the saddle, just snapped! Sadly these straps are fixed in the saddle! I think you call this the 'The Back Band'? They attach the stainless Steel cradles that the shafts sit in.
Anyway I have to find a way of fixing these myself. We have NO saddle makers here and I have to do all repairs.
Question; If I undo the reins guides will the straps slid out. More importantly will anything else fall apart??

Hi Albert!

I have had a breastcollar harness with a saddle through which the back band was slipped through. So I could replace it by just "fiddling" through a new one.
If it is a fixated one, like in your case, I would think you need to know how to stitch a new strap firmly and safely back on. I never needed to do this and I am not a saddle-maker, I am afraid.

Maybe someone else reading this post might be able to give advice?

Thanks. Well, I finally discovered that the saddle strap is just held in place by the reins guides and the diddlywop for decorations on the saddle. they are threaded and I was shocked to unscrew them and the strap just flopped out! Such a lot of weight for to 1/8" whitworth screws each side! Well discussing the price of leather with Paalta it is actually cheaper to buy a set of 1.1/3 to 1.3/4" stirrup leathers and cut them to length. The driving harness is eastern European and not well made. I think the stirrup leathers will be stronger than the straps that broke off in the crash! So hopefully it is easy going from here. Thanks for your kindness. Albert.
